| What is a web presence and why do I need one? |
Some people are using a term called a web presence. What this means is that your company has a website. How big of a web presence you need
depends on your company. Some companies only need a small website to
list their hours, location, and contact information. Think of this
like a large, relatively inexpensive “yellow page” ad in
the phonebook. Other companies need a much more elaborate web
presence, possibly to include a shopping cart and other features. A
lot of people are starting to think that if a company is not on the
Internet, then it is not a real company or at least it is not a
modern business. A basic web presence can be less expensive than an
ad in the phonebook and yet reach more people. Just by putting your
web address and e-mail address on your business cards can convey the
message that we are a modern business. We are all know that every day
more and more people are using the Internet. Some marketing people
liken the idea of putting your web address and e-mail address on a
business card as being as important for a business as having a phone
number.

| What is a virtual server? |
In order for people to view you webpages, you need to have them located on a computer which has a continuous high speed connection to the Internet. These computers are called "servers." because they server your webpages to whomever chooses to go to your website. Servers, along with their high speed connections, and the their maintenance, are very expensive. In fact, maintaining the servers can easily cost many times more than the cost of the hardware. As a result, most individuals, organizations, and companies chose to have their website located on someone else's server. These websites are considered to be hosted by virtual server accounts.
